چکیده

Abstract Development of obesity is associated with excessive fat accumulation and oxidative stress along chronic inflammation. Goji berries ( Lycium barbarum ) are high in polyphenolic compounds have anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, hypolipidemic properties that may alleviate the pathogenesis related metabolic complications. Thus, aim this study was to investigate potential benefits GB supplementation against (HF) diet-induced its comorbidities HF diet-fed rats (male Sprague–Dawley, n = 8/group, 6 weeks old). We also sought examine fermented (FGB) L. plantarum CB3 possible distinctions degree and/or mechanism action compared GB. FGB suppressed gene expression inflammation indices at local (adipose tissues) systemic (liver) levels. In addition, upregulated antioxidant enzymes even low (LF) group more remarkable effects by supplementation. Also, protected from HF-induced damages liver dyslipidemia. conclusion, we demonstrated complications primarily improving hepatic function corresponding lipid metabolism via their anti-inflammatory properties. To our knowledge, first vivo confirming a form. these findings support application both ameliorate obesity-associated abnormalities.

Comparative studies on phenolic profiles, antioxidant capacities and carotenoid contents of red goji berry (Lycium barbarum) and black goji berry (Lycium ruthenicum)

BACKGROUND The study on phytochemical difference between red and black goji berry is limited. METHODS Antioxidant activities and phenolic profiles in terms of total phenol content, total flavonoid contents, condensed tannin content, monomeric anthocyanin content, and total carotenoid content of red goji berry (Lycium barbarum) and black goji berry (L. ruthenicum) were compared using colorimet...

Lycium barbarum (goji) juice improves in vivo antioxidant biomarkers in serum of healthy adults.

Although Lycium barbarum (goji) and active compounds, Lycium barbarum polysaccharides (LBP), have a high in vitro antioxidant score as determined by simple chemical reaction methods, their in vivo antioxidant effects in humans have not been extensively examined. After our earlier report that an LBP-standardized Lycium barbarum preparation (GoChi) helps prevent oxidant stress-related conditions ...

Effects of Lycium barbarum (goji berry) on dry eye disease in rats

Lycium barbarum (goji berry) has long been used as a food and traditional herbal medicine. This study aimed to investigate the beneficial effect of the goji berry on dry eye disease in rats. Male Sprague‑Dawley rats with induced dry eye disease were randomly assigned to four groups: Vehicle (control), low‑dose goji berry extract [GBE; 250 mg/kg/body weight (bw)], median‑dose GBE (350 mg/kg/bw),...

Anti-oxidant and anti-hyperlipidemic activity of Hemidesmus indicus in rats fed with high-fat diet

Objective: Dietary changes playmajor risk roles in oxidative stress andcardiovascular disease and modulate normal metabolic function. The present study was designed to investigate the ameliorative potential of different extracts of Hemidesmus indicus to experimental high-fat diet in wistar rats, and their possible mechanism of action.  Materials and Methods: Male wistar rats were divided into 6...
